Their menu is highly influenced by locally foraged ingredients, creating dishes like their 11 oz Canadian hangar steak, served with white miso compound butter, birch glazed heirloom tomato & carrots, locally sourced fingerling potato, and lotus root chips.

Crazyweed Bistro

For fine dining in Canmore with an emphasis on nutrient-dense ingredients, try Crazyweed Bistro. They call themselves a family owned and cared for restaurant, part of the Canmore community since 1997. While undeniably a gourmet, fine dining experience, the atmosphere is fun and eclectic rather than formal. 

The menu is similarly eclectic, with a range of dishes that reflect what is seasonally available and what inspires the chefs. You will find dishes like orange & achiote braised beef short ribs served with a sweet potato tamale and pickled red onions, Singapore prawn curry with housemade flatbread, and passionfruit baked Alaska with toasted coconut and rum caramel. 

Ankor

Any list of restaurants in Canmore would be incomplete without mentioning Ankor. This upscale local favorite is known for their innovative cuisine and intricate wine list. While it was just opened in 2020, Ankor has quickly cemented itself as one of the pillars of the Canmore restaurant scene. 

With a hip environment, locally sourced ingredients, and perfect drink pairings to enjoy, it checks all the boxes for a restaurant to celebrate a special occasion or bring that special someone. 

Though their menu is always changing to suit the seasons and what is locally available, some of the favorite dishes at Ankor include dry aged duck breast, housemade sourdough with smoked cultured butter, and sous vide rabbit. Don't forget dessert, with delicious creations like coffee chiffon cake with frozen almond custard, coffee foam, biscotti, sponge toffee, and brown sugar gel.
