Plan the Perfect Canmore Getaway
Canmore is an ideal vacation spot, a favorite for decades for it's gorgeous landscape, outdoor adventure, and easy access from Calgary. To help you plan your getaway, we have put together a list of some of our favorite things to do in Canmore.
Summit Ha Ling Peak
Widely considered to be one of the best hikes in the Canmore area, Ha Ling Peak can be summited with a 3-5 hour hike round trip. At 1032 meters (3385 feet) above Canmore, the views from the top are well worth the challenging, steep climb.
Stop by Wild Life Distillery
Using fresh mountain water and locally sourced grains, Wild Life Distillery makes craft spirits you will love. Take a tour of the distillery and bring home some of their small batch spirits. You can even book a tour to learn both the history and the process of distilling at Wild Life. Tours include samples, to help you decide which craft spirits need to come home with you.
Shop at Rocky Mountain Soap Company
Rocky Mountain Soap Company is well known throughout Alberta, and their flagship store is located in Canmore. Spend some time shopping to bring home a souvenir that is both beautiful and functional, like their Lavender Earl Grey Body Butter or Chill Vibes Candle. They have all the products you want for the entire family, including a luxury baby line, and a beautiful skincare line as well.
Visit The Ammonite Factory
Found in southeast Alberta, ammolite is a rare gemstone that comes from the shells of fossilized ammonites. At The Ammonite Factory, beautiful jewelry, stones, art pieces, and fossils can be found, all showcasing the pearlescent and colorful gemstone. The workshop and retail store are both on site, and you will likely have a chance to speak with one of the passionate employees, who love sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm about ammolite.
Treat Yourself at Olde Tyme Candy Shoppe
What vacation is complete without a little sweet treat? Get in touch with your inner child at Olde Tyme Candy Shoppe, a nostalgic candy store on Canmore's Main Street. You will find childhood favorites and unique treats to try, and the staff can even help you order a special favorite candy if they don't have it in stock. There's a reason the flagship store in Canmore has expanded into a local chain: everyone loves old fashioned treats.
Dine at Crazyweed Kitchen
Crazyweed Kitchen is one of Canmore's best. They have a full menu of delicious options, and are known for their amazing wood fired pizza. Casual enough to feel relaxed and comfortable, yet sophisticated enough to suit celebrating a special occasion, you will love your lunch or dinner at Crazyweed.
Check out Grizzly Paw Pub and Brewing Company
Looking for a restaurant that parents and kids will be equally excited to try? Look no further than Grizzly Paw Pub and Brewing Company. Craft beers for grown ups and craft soda for kids (or kids at heart) will hit the spot after a day hiking or mountain biking. Dine on the large patio while enjoying mountain views or inside the two level restaurant. Grizzly Paw has an ideal main street location and a fun atmosphere, with a menu of delicious entrees to suit any taste or preference.
Try Rock Climbing at Elevation Place
Want to try rock climbing? One of the best ways to get started is at an indoor climbing gym. Elevation Place is a great place to start. Get pointers from a trainer or try any of the climbing walls yourself, with routes to suit everyone from beginner to expert. Kids of all ages are welcome, so this also makes a great family activity.
